Thread specs on CNC quotes — should I model threads or just note them in the drawing?

I keep getting questions from suppliers about tapped holes. Do you model cosmetic threads in the STEP file, or leave a plain hole at tap-drill diameter and specify the thread on the drawing / in the notes?

Leave the hole at tap-drill diameter (e.g. Ø6.8 for M8) and call the thread out in the drawing or notes. Cosmetic threads in the STEP just confuse CAM and sometimes get machined as a plain bore. Bonus: mention thread depth and whether a chamfer is required.
